Great progress continues at the Claycomb Historic Schoolhouse. This week, the interior has really started to take shape, with the classic chalkboard, its accompanying trim, and the chalk tray now beautifully installed, ready for lessons to begin. Just below, you can almost picture the everyday life of a 19th-century student as the dedicated space for shelves, where lunchboxes would have been neatly stored, is also coming together. Nearby, the sturdy board intended for coat hooks is also in place, soon to hold period-appropriate items like a bonnet and perhaps a child’s jacket, further immersing visitors in the schoolhouse’s past. Each completed detail helps to vividly recreate the authentic learning environment of yesteryear, truly bringing the schoolhouse back to life.
