Double wedding ring quilt.
This small double wedding ring top was pieced by Verilla Fernert Bell and Lily Brown (sisters) in the 1920’s. It was given to Mrs. Bell’s daughter Mary who gave the top to Gladys Osger who finished the quilt in 1981-1982. Gladys & Mary had discovered that Mary’s Aunt Lily was Gladys’ aunt by marriage to Ben Brown, Gladys’ uncle.
The quilt is made with multi-colored blocks with 1″ connecting blocks in blue and white, with white fabric blocs filling the negative spaces. It is hand quilted, backed in white and bound in blue.
