Pieced Pattern – Donated by Nellie Horst in 1981
Made by Nancy Uhl in the 1880’s
Nancy Uhl was the great-grandmother-in-law of Nellie Horst. Mrs Uhl moved to Greenwood County in 1886 or 1887 from the Lawrence area.
The quilt if made of variegated brown fabrics in 8 1/2″ square blocks alternated with red blocks. It is bcked in white or off-white fabric, has a border of white and is bound in red. There are a few blocks done in blue fabrics as well.
The quilt is hand-quilted with commercial designs.
The quilt is documented in the Kansas Quilt Project of 1986.
