Polar Bears

Many people have collections of various items – hats, pencils, shaving razors, or dolls to name a few. A lot of time these collections are put into a box and stored in a closet because there is no place to display them.
We are fortunate at the Greenwood County Historical Society museum to have the space to display a large number of artifacts for museum visitors to enjoy, and because we have the space, we are starting a new project with the community in mind.
If you have a collection that you are proud of and you think others would enjoy seeing, consider sharing it with the museum for a month or two. Your items will be put in a secure display case so that no harm will come to them, and many more people will have the opportunity to see and enjoy them.
Currently, we have a display of polar bear figurines that community member John Himes has collected for a number of years. In March, Pat Farr will be sharing her collection of pincushions. These will be displayed in conjunction with a display of many of our quilts to celebrate national quilt month.
We are hoping that this project will result in more people visiting the museum and seeing the many Greenwood County artifacts we have to share.
The museum is open Monday – Friday from 10 – 4.
